Stem Cell Infusions Could Assist in Lung Transplants

Organ rejection is a significant worry when it comes to medical transplants. During this research, a single dose of mesenchymal stem cells was given to patients to assist with their chronic lung allograft syndrome and over a year of observation, the stem cells appeared to have halted lung function decline. It is possible that stem cells could heal tissue directly or release helpful anti-inflammatory and immunosuppressant molecules. Either way, this is an exciting development.
