Pomegranate

Anti-Tumour Effect Found in Metabolite of Pomegranate Extract to Improve Immune Systems

Researchers have discovered that a metabolite (Urolithin A) detected in berries such as raspberries, strawberries and cloudberries as well as pomegranate, walnuts, and some other nuts, and oak-aged wines, can induce something called mitophagy, which is the process where cells will remove dysfunctional mitochondria. Together with immunotherapy, this could create more opportunities to create a functional immune response to cancer. Further study of the immune system and how we can support it is a vital field of discovery.
